If you listen closely you can still hear the laughter and exclamations of the fifty 4th graders from Harmar Elementary School who formed the year-long imaginative nucleus for this world-class experiential exhibit!
We wanted to give our readers an overview of “Explore the Clubhouse,” an Art Exhibit that was housed at the Parkersburg Art Center and filled the whole art gallery! Unfortunately, due to circumstances that could not be worked around, the exhibit had to be taken down early.
Though only portions of the RESolve Studios “clubhouse” still remain at the Parkersburg Art Center (725 Market St.) – the spirit of that marvelous experience lingers on. We found it to be more than just a display of art. Exploring the exhibit is an experience that can’t be fully described.
It was the culmination of a year’s worth of work, designed collaboratively during mentor sessions with artists from REsolve Studios in Harmar and students from Harmar fourth grade class, Marietta Middle school, and the Boys and Girls Club. Harmar fourth grade students worked with the artists for the whole school year to learn about design features and local Victorian architecture. After the learning sessions, students determined what they felt was most important and had to be included in the five rooms of the “Clubhouse.
According to Geoff Schenkel, the adult artists of RESolve Studios who brought this massive labor of love to fruition will be progressively relocating the “clubhouse” to their work/display space in Marietta. The newly reconfigured “clubhouse” exhibit will be shared as a Holiday Open House. If you haven’t already experienced this inspiring exhibition, you won’t want to miss the new “clubhouse” Open House.
